Negative pulse charger
Release Time:2023-01-04
Lead-acid batteries have a history of more than 100 years, and began to be common around the world along the old views and operating procedures: charging and discharging rates of 0.1C (C is the battery capacity) has a long life. In order to solve the problem of fast charging, Mr. Max of the American published his research results to the world in 1967, charging with a pulse current of greater than 1C rate, and discharging the battery intermittently during charging. Discharge is beneficial to eliminate polarization, reduce the electrolyte temperature, and improve the ability of the plate to accept charge.
Around 1969, some scientific and technological workers in China successfully produced a variety of brands of fast chargers according to Mr. Max's three laws. The charging cycle process is: high-current pulse charging → cut off the charging path→ temporarily discharge the battery→ stop the discharge→ turn on the charging path→ high-current pulse charging...
Around 2000, some people used this principle in electric vehicle chargers, during the charging process, do not cut off the charging path, with a small resistance to short circuit the battery instantaneously, discharge. In the case of short circuit, the inductor is connected in series in the charging path because the charging path is not cut off. Generally short circuit in 1 second 3-5 milliseconds (1 second = 1000 milliseconds), because the current in the inductor can not be jumped, the short circuit time is short, can protect the charger's power conversion part. If the charging current direction is called positive, the discharge is naturally negative, and the electric vehicle industry has appeared as a term "negative pulse charger", and it can extend battery life and so on.
